We at PasoFino Dance Studio understand that to learn a new dance, the classes need to be fun, friendly and above all structured. We have our classes in different levels based on a syllabus of moves. If you are an absolute beginner, and would like to take our Salsa 101 series over 10 weeks, you will be with a group of other beginners, learning basic salsa footwork, 4-6 simple Salsa ‘Shines’ or styling moves you can do yourself, and 12-14 Salsa turn patterns that you would be doing with a partner. Since we rotate partners, you will learn how to lead and follow them with different people, which would help you when you go out dancing at clubs or at dance socials. If you would like to drop-in to our level 1 classes, we have a smaller syllabus of footwork and turn patterns, which you would need to master before you qualify to move to the next level.
If you have mastered the basics of Salsa, we offer level 2 and level 3 classes along with a ladies styling (open level) and men’s shines (open level). If you are looking to improve your styling or footwork, you can take the fun and challenging footwork/styling classes. Again, we have a syllabus of styling moves which we will be using to teach the styling and footwork classes. Level 2 Salsa classes are taught with our systematic ‘Six Pillars’ format, where you will learn moves grouped into six groups (or pillars) of 3-4 patterns each. By the end of Level 2, you will understand the concepts, dynamics and fundamental moves of Salsa. You will also have a repertoire of about 16 patterns, which you will know by name, and can call up from memory while dancing socially.
If you are an intermediate or advanced dancer looking to learn challenging patterns, or lead/follow technique, we have world renowned instructors, who will be teaching level 3 Salsa classes. These classes will be focusing on teaching advanced techniques utilizing challenging, yet fun (and lead-able, which is a real word for us). These patterns are usually taught at Salsa congresses and festivals to hundreds of advanced dancers. Our YouTube videos with advanced patterns are watched by hundreds of people from around the world. We teach both LA and NY styles of Salsa.
Classes at the studio at 7pm. Three simultaneous levels – Level 1 footwork, Men’s shines, Ladies Styling
